About the competition

The Rotary (Greater Bristol) Young Musician Competition, run by seven Rotary Clubs from Bristol and the surrounding counties, is open to instrument or voice students aged 13 to 17 who can offer a predominantly classical music programme at ABRSM Grade 7 level or higher. Heats take place in Bristol in November, with a Final in January. The winner of the Final is given the opportunity to progress to the regional and national levels of the competition, run by Rotary in Geat Britain and Ireland.

In the 2024 competition, 26 participants competed in the Heats, and six were selected for the Final, all playing different instruments. The Final was held in the Lantern Hall of the Bristol Beacon in January 2025, providing an outstanding evening of music to a full house.

This year's Heats have been completed, and the Final, again featuring six remarkable performers, will be held on January 23rd 2026, also in the Lantern Hall.
